Things to consider when hiring lawn care service.
Why is hiring a licensed and insured contractors so important?
When hiring contractors proof of insurance is critical when people are working on or around your home. If you choose to hire a contractor that is not licensed and insured you must know that you are assuming all of the financial risk in the contract. Should that contractor walk away from the job, get injured, go bankrupt or any other number of unfortunate occurrences you could be out financially and held liable for any neglect.
Before hiring someone to work around or in your home make sure the contractor has: Liability Insurance Protection
You can hire someone without insurance or license but the peace of mind that going with hiring a licensed contractor provides is worth consideration. Contractors who go through the trouble of obtaining a license from the state have shown that they take their trade seriously and are far less likely to risk their reputation and license by doing inferior work on your home.
When hiring a service like lawn care ask them to show proof of insurance before they do anything to your property. Don't be a victim and risk your finances and property. Always hire a professional that takes the time to become fully licensed and insured.
How to check if a contractor is licensed and insured
Checking for a license is generally a simple matter. Ask the contractor for his or her license number and then check with your state’s licensing board to verify the standing of the license. If you live in Virginia, you can check the State Corporation Commission Clerk's Information System.
